Making Space for Dance in Rural and Suburban Communities
So, you’re a choreographer and you want to produce your work. BUT, you don’t live in a city. There isn’t an established dance scene where you live. You have few resources, no audience and then there’s the problem of venues. What venues?! You live in the ‘burbs! Or The Real World: Farmville.
Sound familiar? The producing struggle is REAL sometimes! In this interactive workshop, Sarah will share the successes and challenges she’s experienced as a rural and suburban dancemaker and help you generate ideas, through facilitated activities and discussion, for you to take back to your home community and make a space for dance.
***This workshop is a pilot program and will be offered at a low, introductory price. If you would like further information about this and future professional development opportunities for dance makers and performing arts entrepreneurs, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “MAKE.”***
