Neoteric Dance Collaborative presents: SHELTER: A One Billion Rising Event
Discover the unsung heroes who worked to create havens for the victims of violence. SHELTER depicts the history of women seeking refuge, the emergence of shelters in the 1970s and where we as a nation stand on these issues today. Through dance, theatre and film, SHELTER amplifies the stories of real women, whose voices often go unheard, and explores the triumphs and challenges these vital services face.
Join Neoteric Dance Collaborative as they return to The Music Hall in this new work in support of One Billion Rising – a campaign to end violence against women, that uses art and activism to educate and inspire. One in three women, that’s ONE BILLION WOMEN on the planet, will be raped or beaten in her lifetime.
SHELTER features an original script by playwright Catherine Stewart, an original music score created by Randy Armstrong, 2017 Governor’s Arts Awards Winner and 2017-2018 Artist In Residence with The Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra, lighting and set design by Quentin Stockwell and original choreography by Sarah Duclos, artistic director of Neoteric Dance Collaborative.
VIP tickets include an OBR 2018 Gift Bag, as well as attendance to a special pre-show event beginning at 5:30pm with refreshments.
100% of event proceeds will be donated to Haven, NH, benefiting their education, prevention, and support services in Rockingham and Strafford County and ensuring they can continue in their mission of Ending Violence and Changing Lives.
