NEO approaches dance education differently. You can learn how to dance almost anywhere. But at NEO, we also teach the who, what, where, when and why.

Who are the choreographers behind the masterpieces and different techniques? What are the core ideas? Where in the world did they make their work? When in history was the work made and why was it relevant in that time? We believe that teaching dance through the lens of dance history will build a greater sense of appreciation, understanding, and longevity for the art form. We aim to embed history into the content of every class and we deliver exclusive additional online learning resources to your e-mail inbox.

Ballet can trace its roots all the way back to the royal courts of the European Renaissance. Ballet classes will provide you with a rigorous workout that will improve your alignment, strength and balance. You will leave ballet class with the ability to move through your daily life with the poise and elegance of a king or a queen!

Thursdays 7:30-8:30 PM at Patrick Dorow Productions 170 West Road Portsmouth, NH

Contemporary/NEO-Rep is a hotly contested term in the dance world — its definition changes from person to person. At NEO, we define contemporary dance (and our repertory) as the product of multiple dance styles pieced together in a new way. Discover a diverse range of styles during every class and learn choreography from our company repertory. In contemporary, you will experience a glimpse of what it’s like to be a NEO dancer!

On hiatus

Modern dance came about in the early 20th century as a rejection to the opulence and formality of classical ballet. In this class, you’ll be introduced to a broad range of modern dance techniques and the trail-blazing pioneers who brought them about. Through modern dance, you will feel more comfortable in your body, sharpen your critical thinking skills and be given the space and freedom to be creative.
